Manchester needs no introduction as a football city – home to two of the most successful clubs in English history and a culture built around the game. For Euro 2028, the tournament comes to the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City’s home, which is being expanded ahead of the competition to bring its capacity closer to 60,000.
The city hosts five matches across the tournament: four group stage games spanning three different groups, plus a Round of 16 tie. The Etihad sits a short Metrolink tram ride from the city centre, in a purpose-built sporting district with its own stop directly outside the ground.
Beyond the football, Manchester offers the Northern Quarter’s bars and independent shops, the Science and Industry Museum, and a live music scene with deep roots – this is the city that gave the world The Stone Roses and Oasis, among many others.
